New Delhi, Sep 4 (IANS): The commission of enquiry set up by the Delhi government to probe the multi-crore-rupee CNG scam has summoned Anti-Corruption Branch chief M.K. Meena for directing officials not to share information pertaining to the case.

In a communication to Meena, the secretary to the commission of enquiry Ashok Kumar said the directions "appeared to be over-reaching the directions of the commission".

"You have directed your officials working under your control not to supply any documents or share any information concerning the CNG fitness scam case," it said.

"The commission has desired to give an adequate hearing to you as also to the counsel for the applicant who has moved the application for directions for production of the record before passing an appropriate order in the matter," it added.

The CNG scam dates back to 2002 when Sheila Dikshit was the chief minister.

The probe in the CNG fitness scam has pitted the city and the central governments against each other, with the union home ministry declaring the commission of enquiry set up by the Delhi government as legally invalid.

The Centre had also said the probe will be continued by the ACB.

However, the AAP government had replied that it will not pay heed to the Centre's decree.

The control of the ACB is one of the contentious issues between the Delhi government and Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung.
