WiFi in university by year-end: AAP student wing

New Delhi, Sep 4 (IANS): The Delhi government has promised to provide WiFi facilities in university areas by the end of the year, the ruling AAP's student wing said on Friday.

Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) president Anupam Kumar said WiFi services will be initially provided in the University Special buses, high-footfall areas of the north and south campus as well as colleges where WiFi quality was poor.

"WiFi is our focus area, and the government has assured us that it will be made available by this year-end," he said.

Kumar made the announcement while releasing the manifesto of CYSS for the Delhi University Students Union elections of September 11.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday promised a loan scheme for higher education, one lakh jobs within a year and free WiFi in colleges.

"We welcome the fact that the Delhi government has already started the tendering process and feasibility studies with telecom operators and companies to make Delhi India's first city that offers public WiFi," the CYSS manifesto said.

The CYSS also promised to organise job fairs every month if it gets to lead DUSU.
