Separating couple's smiling selfie goes viral

Toronto, Sep 4 (IANS): A selfie recently taken by a separating couple - grinning wide - has gone viral on the internet.

The Canadian couple - Chris and Shannon Neuman - clicked the picture outside Calgary Courts Centre in downtown Calgary soon after filing for divorce, Newser.com reported.

The image, hash-tagged #teamneuman and #divorceselfie, have been shared nearly 35,000 times.

"Here's Chris Neuman and I yesterday after filing for divorce!" Shannon explained in a Facebook post the next day.

She explained that they were certainly not smiling at the marriage's undoing. But they were celebrating the fact that "we have done something extraordinary (we think anyway!)"

"We have respectfully, thoughtfully and honourably ended our marriage in a way that will allow us to go forward as parenting partners," she added.

The couple has two children from their 11 years of marriage.

Her Facebook post invites others to share the message that it's "possible to love your kids more than you hate/distrust/dislike your ex."
