Teenager dies in accidental grenade blast in Kashmir


Srinagar, Sep 4 (IANS): A teenaged boy on Friday succumbed to injuries sustained when a grenade exploded at the site of a gun battle between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district.

According to police, 14-year-old Junaid Ahmad Dar came in contact with a grenade at Ladoora village (Rafiabad) which exploded and left him with serious injuries.

"The boy was taken to district hospital in Baramulla town where he succumbed to his injuries," a senior police officials told IANS here.

On Wednesday, a separatist guerrilla and an army soldier were killed in a nine-hour gunfight in Rafiabad's Ladoora village, 76 km from Srinagar, where the explosion occurred on Friday.
