'Consider Swedish collaboration in Digital India'

Kolkata, Sep 4 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India initiative could become a potential area of collaboration between India and Sweden, a Swedish diplomat said here on Friday.

"That is something we should also look into more because we have competence in that area (IT) too so that could become a potential area of collaboration. There are a number of Indian (IT) companies in Sweden so there is a mutual interest there," Anna Ferry, counsellor and head of the trade and economic affairs section in the Swedish Embassy in India, told the media here.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Sweden India Nobel Memorial quiz here which isorganized by the Swedish embassy in cooperation with Swedish companies, she also said Sweden is keen to partner with Indian companies to build smart cities through public-private partnership (PPP).

"The Swedish companies will definitely do so. There are a lot of Swedish companies that are into telecom, transportation, air quality improvement, water quality improvement and power," said Ferry.
