Mangaluru, Sep 4: Newly-appointed Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) commissioner, Dr H N Gopalkrishna, a KAS officer, took charge of his office here on Friday September 4.

Speaking to the daijiworld, Gopalakrishna said that he will make plans on various issues and take appropriate action after studying the ground reality.

He also said that he would emphasize on the developmental issues facing the city.

On sending a detailed project report to the union government for Mangaluru's selection among the top 20 for Smart City Mission, he said, "I will hold meetings with the MCC officials within 20 days and direct them to prepare a detailed report and send it in 90 days."

"I will work for the progress of the city taking everyone together, the people, officials and elected representatives," he added.

An KAS officer of the 1998 batch, he was first appointed as the muncipal commissioner of Hassan, then served as assistant commissioner in Mysuru and Vijaypura. He also served as project director of DUB in Shivamogga and assistant deputy commissioner in Hassan district, before being appointed as the commissioner of MCC.

The previous commissioner of MCC Hephsiba Rani Korlapati was transferred in just six months to Vijaypura following backdoor activities by several corporators and political leaders who did not approve of her style of functioning. She was the third MCC commissioner to be transferred in one year.
