Now Andaman Express to go up to Vaishno Devi base camp


New Delhi, Sep 4 (IANS): Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu on Friday flagged off the extended Chennai-Jammu Tawi Andaman Express, which now go up to Katra, the base camp for the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.

The flagging off was done through remote control through video conferencing at Rail Bhawan here and the Jammu railway station.

After flagging of the train, Prabhu said that it is necessary to provide good transportation facilities to the places of pilgrimage from every part of the country. He also said his ministry is committed to the development of railway infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir and he will soon hold a meeting at Jammu to review the progress of various railway projects.
