Two policemen killed in Turkey


Ankara, Sep 6 (IANS): Two policemen were killed and three others injured on Sunday during an attack by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Turkey.

An official report said the attack in Diyarbakir province was in response to security forces' operation against the militant group's youth wing, the Patriotic Revolutionary Youth Movement in Sur district, Xinhua news agency reported.

A number of people were also detained as part of the operation. Resident of the area were warned not to leave their houses.

The Diyarbakir governor's office has declared a curfew in the district until further notice.
