Unable to feed her kids, mother of five commits suicide

Mumbai, Sep 6 (Agencies): In yet another incident showing the plight of drought-hit farmers and their families in Maharashtra, a 40-year-old woman in the Marathwada region was forced to commit suicide as she was unable to feed her five children.

Reports on Monday said that Manisha Gatkal, a farmer in Marathwada's Osmanabad district, set herself on fire in her own house on Saturday - the day India was celebrating Raksha Bandhan.

Days after her death, Gatkal’s house in Ambi village, continues to suffer from lack of grain or food items. With nothing to eat, her children can only stare at the empty vessels around.

“We are really very poor. There was no food. I had no work… When I got some work I went out. She latched the door and killed herself,” Gatkal’s husband Laxman was quoted as saying by a news channel.

One of her relatives said, “Ration is just too little – 18 kg of wheat and 12 kg of rice. That’s not enough for seven people. Just lasts 12 days.”

What is even worse the villagers here have no work even under the central government employment schemes, which guarantee them jobs.

Manisha’s brother-in-law said, “Had he got work under NREGA, they would have had money and she wouldn’t have committed suicide.”

Marathwada region of Maharashtra has been severely hit by three years of continuous droughts. This has resulted in an alarming rise of farmer suicides .

In 2014, the region witnessed the death of 574 farmer suicides, while more than 628 farmers have already killed themselves this year.

The wonderful CM of Maharastra did enact a law " been ban" to make the human beings far less important than the cattle. 40% of the people lost their liberty to eat a low priced high protean food called
    "beef".

The cow or the ox are the real asset of the poorest sections of the society due to the beef ban, nobody will buy their old cattle and the poor can't buy young cattle to milk them for survival. How many thousands of people have lost their jobs through the beef ban in the butcher houses-sales-transportation etc etc? Simply watch and see the special cattle blessings upon the State of Maharastra more showers of blessings.

Now, due to the fodder shortage, he is going to import cattle fodder to feed the cattle but the human beings are dying and committing suicides.

Within two years after taking the steering of New Delhi, the stock price of India was crashed around 60%, the growth of the stock market under Mr. Modi was -1%., the worst in the Indian economic history under any other Prime Minister???????????.

How many new jobs are created? How much improvement in export? Even though the oil price was plunged almost 2/3, how the billions saved in the oil import has created growth in the over all economy of India?

Sir, for the BJP Government, the poorest sections of the society, around 400 million living with $ 1.25/day is not in the list and the middle class are in the list but in the real thing is only the list of the billionaires.

How and why did they reduce the Healthcare budget 20% if they had any concern for the poor people of the society, also the children and women ministry driven by Menaka Gandhi had a big reduction in the budgeting. She met Mr. Jaitley and expressed her pain but no change of heart from the very ordinary politician worth Rs 120 Crores worth wealth.

The BJP Government, do they care for the poor people?

Mr. Modi's three term tenure created a display of some tall buildings and national highways, but in the rural areas of Gujarat, both in education and healthcare, Gujarat kept an over all 10th ranking in the nation, behind the Southern States.
