Australian dollar slips in quiet session overnight


Sydney, Sep 8 (IANS): The Australian dollar has slipped overnight following a subdued international session as US markets were closed for the Labor Day holiday.

At 0700 AEST on Tuesday, the local unit was trading at 69.25 US cents, down from 69.33 cents on Monday, Xinhua reported.

The Australian dollar traded between 69.22 US cents and 69.51 US cents in the session.

Traders were also quiet overnight on caution ahead of next week 's Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting in which the U.S. Federal Reserve is expected to raise interest rates.
