Mangalore, Jul 1: Thousands of students belonging to National Students’ Union of India staged a protest in the city by boycotting classes on Saturday June 30.
The protest was organized to opppose the hike in the students’ bus pass fare. Students from various colleges in the city assembled at Dr Ambedkar Circle and formed a human chain cirlce. The traffic was affected for half an hour.
Addressing the students, NSUI district president Tejaswiraj said that, the hike in the bus pass is unfair on part of the students. All the expenditures have shifted to the students this time. Hence, bus pass rate should be reduced, he urged.
Students from St Aloysius College, SDM College, Badriya College and other colleges participated in the protest.
