56 percent Facebook users in India connected to business


New Delhi, Sep 9 (IANS): Social networking giant Facebook on Wednesday said nearly 56 percent of Facebook users in India are connected to a small and medium business (SMB).

The site also announced new features like updated pages for mobile and messaging for SMBs aimed to take advantage of the growing mobility sector.

"We are announcing a host of pages enhancements that will impact small businesses, plus we are also updating the current international SMB pages number. The pages enhancements will help businesses enhance its mobile presence and introduce new tools for better communication with customers," the company said.

"Facebook is committed to helping each business achieve its goals. We are making investments to provide the right resources. We have also launched Live Chats, Pages Messaging, Ads Manager app, SMB creative resources, plus educational resources," it added.

Some of the new features will help businesses aid consumers to find information more easily, to add new vertical-specific sections to new or existing pages, and to add
new tools to help businesses best communicate with its customers anytime and anywhere.

"We appreciate that business owners are busy and need to choose the best place to manage their online presence."

"Today we are adding new features to pages to help the 45 million active businesses on Facebook get more value from them," Facebook said via a blog post.

The social networking giant's move bets on the statistic that over one billion people are visiting pages every month and pages continue to be an easy place for businesses to build and maintain mobile presence in an environment where people are increasingly spending their time.
