Mysore, Jul, 2 : The Chamarajanagar Court has granted conditional bail to Assistant Commissioner (AC) Shankarappa and First Division Assistant Siddamallappa, who were nabbed by the Lok Ayukta for accepting bribe for transfer of Khata.

Nisar Khan of Bangalore had purchased about 4 acres of land at Kannur, Survey No. 63, 63/A, 52/2B, 52/2 of Lokkanahalli Hobli near Mangala in Hanur.

The Khata was also transferred to his name in the office of the Additional Tahasildar.The RTC obtained by the owner mentioned LRF which stayed the process. Asked about this, the staff of Additional Tahasildar, Hanur, directed him to approach the Assistant Commissioner of Kollegal.

Accordingly, Nisar Khan approached the Assistant Commissioner Shankarappa on June 28 to vacate the LRF stay order. Shankarappa asked Nisar Khan to pay Rs. 10,000 to him and Rs. 500 to the clerk. After negotiation, Nisar Khan agreed to pay Rs. 5,000 on Saturday.

Nisar Khan lodged a complaint with the Chamarajanagar Lok Ayukta. Lok Ayukta SP Ishwarachandra Vidyasagar who registered the case, nabbed Shankarappa and Siddamallappa red-handed while they were accepting bribe from Nisar Khan.

The team of Lok Ayukta, who nabbed the duo, included Dy. SP Appanna Nayak, Inspector M. Dharmendra, Jayaram and staff P. Puttaswamy, V. Muralidhar, S. Krishnamurthy, H.M. Kumaradhya, Balakrishna and Nanjappa. Incidentally, Shankarappa had been promoted as Special Deputy Commissioner recently.
