Missing Malaysian cargo ship found

Kuala Lumpur, Sep 10 (IANS): A ship with 14 crew members and 500 tonnes of cargo which went missing last week has been found, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) said on Thursday.

"Cargo vessel 'Sah Lian' reported missing on September 7, found off Miri this morning, crew members safe," MMEA tweeted.

The vessel departed from Kuching Port Authority on September 2 and was expected to arrive in Limbang on September 5.

However, the vessel did not reach Limbang as scheduled and the owner failed to contact his crew.

It was believed that the ship was hijacked and taken out of Malaysian waters.
