Four officers killed in Sri Lanka road accident


Colombo, Sep 10 (IANS): Four officers from the president's security division were killed in an accident in the western province of Sri Lanka on Thursday, police said.

The accident occurred when the jeep in which the officers were travelling collided head on with a passenger bus coming from the opposite direction, Xinhua reported.

The jeep tried to overtake another private bus, that resulted in all three vehicles being heavily damaged in the accident.

Several passengers travelling in the two buses also sustained injuries and some were reported to be in critical condition.

The injured were rushed to nearby state hospitals. Police are conducting an investigation.
