President expresses concern over floods in Japan

New Delhi, Sep 11 (IANS): President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday expressed concern over torrential rains, floods and landslides in Japan.

"I was deeply concerned to see the reports of the flooding and landslides in North Eastern Japan caused by unprecedented rainfall and severe weather conditions," he said in a statement here.

"The people of India offer their solidarity with the people of Japan in this difficult hour and stand ready to assist in any possible manner."

Floods and landslides caused by heavy rain in eastern Japan earlier this week have claimed three lives while 26 people are missing.
