Bantwal, Jul 5: Sandalwood was stolen from the compound of one Shivarama Shetty of Nadumogeru-Maninalkur village near here. The total worth of the stolen sandalwood is estimated at Rs 40,000. So far there have been no clues about the culprits. But the police suspect that it could be the handiwork of some local miscreants.
A case under Karnataka Forest Act, Section 86, 87 and 71 (a) has been registered by Bantwal rural police.
Mangalore: Un-natural Deaths Reported
Mangalore July 5: The corpse of a resident of Mundkur village in Karkala taluk one certain Sukumar (39) was found in a highly decomposed condition at Kanikatta Munkkuru village. Prelimnary investigations suggest it to be a case of suicide. The deceased is suspected to have died by consuming poison.
In Yekkar village, one Narayana Shetty aged 50 years committed suicide by hanging from a tree near his house. Depression owing to health problem was the cause for the suicide, said early investigations.
In both the above cases the Bajpe police have registered the cases as that of unnatural deaths.
In another unfortunate incident, one Sridhara Poojary (48) resident of Rajarathnapura Mennabettu village, Mangalore taluk accidentally slipped into a well near his house and drowned. He was walking by the side of the well when the incident occurred.
The Mulki police station has registered a case of unnatural death.
In another incident a young girl of 21 Kusuma, a resident of Manibettu Devachalla village Sullia Taluk committed suicide by jumping into a well near her house owing to personal problems.
A case has been registered by Subrahmanya police in this regard.
