Two held carrying Rs.1 crore in Bihar

Patna, Sep 14 (IANS): Two people, carrying one crore rupees in their vehicle, were detained in Bihar's Gaya district on Monday, police said.

"Two men were detained after Rs.1 crore was found in their four-wheeler during ongoing checking for unaccounted cash...," a district police official said.

The money was found as a police team stopped their vehicle in Gaya town, about 100 km from here.

Police detained former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi's son Parween on Sunday with Rs.4.65 lakh in cash in Jehanabad district. But he was released on bail later.

The Income Tax department along with Bihar Police have intensified crack down on use of black money and unaccounted cash as the model code of conduct is in force for the upcoming assembly polls.
