Mumbai, Jul 6: Karkal sub division ASI, Labhoo Ram is investigating Sumathi Kotian's case and they have made substantial progress in this regard.

As reported widely in these colums Sumati ill-treated by Deepak and Saritha Lewis couple, the natives of Udupi-Kallianpur in whose house she was working as housemaid in Abu Dhabi.

On the basis of the complaint filed by Sumathi Kotian, Karkal town police have registered the case under  under Sections 323, 324, 326, 504, 506, 354, 355, 342, 367, and 34 IPC and investigations are underway.

Accordingly Karkal policemen arrived in Mumbai and are gathering information on her days spent in Cooper and Holy Spirit Hospital, Sahar Airport police station, since she had been hospitalized from February to April, 2007 in Mumbai.  Investigations are in progress, on the basis of discharge card IP # 07/273, bed # B-106/1, issued by the medical officers of Cooper and Holy Spirit Hospitals, her Abu Dhabi – Mumbai return Air India flight ticket # 098-44270158309 provided by Lewis couple, in order to take action against them.

Sumathi and her husband Jesudas Prabhakar Kotian arrived in Mumbai and met Mumbai Federation of Maharastras Canara Catholic Association convenor, Rons Bantwal, Anti-Corruption and Vigilance committee vice-president and Anti-Crime Organization international secretary Roland T Salins Udupi, Jaya Sri Krishna Environmental Committee president, Vishwanath U Mada, Federation advisor Harry S Ferrar, social worker Valerian Lobo, Eugene Lobo, Rosbel D’Costa, Fr C Karkada and others, briefed them of their existing situation.

“There would not be any use pursuing the case.  The case would have no significance after six months or so.  People are likely to forget.  Those who wanted to teach the lesson and pursue the case are likely to back off since they would be ashamed” Saritha Lewis seems to have reportedly said.

The local police who have visited the residence of Saritha Louis at Pilarkana in Shirva Manchakal, seems to have not found her name in their ration card.  Moreover, police state that, they are unable to investigate the case further, since her name is not in the ration card as the case to prove the Indian nationality.  However, the social workers argue that, how PCC was issued to get her passport, if she was not an Indian national.  How she secured the passport?  

At any cost the struggle would go on till the justice is done, Roland Salins and Vishwanath Mada, Rons Bantwal said.
