Mangalore, Jul 10: Readers are aware of the Daijiworld scoop on the spotting of parts of human skeletal remains, mainly bones, in a garbage bin in the old bus stand in Hampankatta in the heart of the city late in the night on Monday, July 9.
Our immediate enquiries revealed apprehensions in the minds of the people about possible practice of 1. Black magic 2. Cannibalism 3. Human sacrifice (mainly of children) existing in Mangalore.
In response to the enquiries by our correspondents, the police have ruled out the above and they speak of the only possiblity that the source of these bones could only be a medical institution. According to them, a lower-grade employee might have been given the charge of disposing of the bones after the education-related analysis and experiments were done and he may have dumped them in the garbage bin as an easy way out.
What the person may have thought was that if the bones were packed well and thrown into the bin, they would get into the city corporation garbage disposal vehicle and from there to the Pachanady dumping yard near Vamanjoor on the outskirts of the city unntoiced.
But what was not expected was that rag-pickers keep raking the garbage bins every now and then, putting all the trash helter-skelter.
If a proper enquiry is conducted, some skeletons are likely to roll down the cupboards, say some readers. Foremost in the minds of many citizens is the question: Was it proper for anyone to have dumped the bones that way thus creating a public scare ? Was it correct for the superiors to have allowed such a thing to happen?
Many philanthropists donate their bodies and organs after death for purpose of medical use and analysis. In the final count, and making no bones about it, the public would like to know if this is the way a human being is treated, since human values demand that even a dead person should be treated with dignity and respect.
