Naidu invites Singapore PM for new state capital


Hyderabad, Sep 22 (IANS): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday called on Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and invited him to the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the new state capital next month.

On the second day of his visit to Singapore, Naidu met the prime minister to extend the invitation, according to a statement issued here.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of Amaravati on October 22.

"Glad to meet Singapore PM @leehsienloong. Invited him for Amaravati's foundation-laying ceremony on October 22," tweeted Naidu.

The chief minister on Monday had called on Second Minister for Trade and Industry S. Iswaran and discussed the development of new state capital through Swiss Challenge method.

With the Singapore government already preparing three master plans for development of capital region, capital city and seed capital, Naidu is visiting that country to seek its partnership in construction of the capital city.

Andhra Pradesh's Finance Minister Y. Ramakrishnudu and Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana and senior officials are accompanying Naidu.
