Police officer suspended for helping drug peddler

Jammu, Sep 22 (IANS): A Jammu and Kashmir Police officer was on Tuesday suspended after a probe established that he was aiding a drug peddler in the state, police said.

"Nitin Khajuri, a police sub inspector, whose involvement in helping a drug peddler has been established through a secret enquiry, was suspended today," a police officer told IANS here.

A local drug peddler, identified as Vikram Jaindal, would bring contraband through a parcel and Khajuri would help the peddler clear the parcel at the railway station and also help its delivery to the final destination, police said.

The inspector general of police ordered a departmental probe against Khajuri and the deputy inspector general of police was entrusted with the task of conducting the enquiry.
