Srinagar, Sep 22 (IANS): A woman and her daughter were killed and a second girl injured on Tuesday when an army vehicle hit them after the driver lost control in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district, police said. The vehicle, which was part of an army convoy, later overturned.

"An army vehicle, which was part of a convoy, went out of the driver's control and turned turtle on the road at Panzgam in Kupwara district," a police officer told IANS.

"The vehicle hit a 35-year-old woman, identified as Naza Begum, and her two daughters. The mother died on the spot while her 22-year-old daughter Saima succumbed to injuries at a hospital."

The other daughter was undergoing treatment.

Reports said a mob torched an army vehicle immediately after the accident. Police later dispersed the protestors.
