Bengaluru, Sep 24: The much awaited cabinet expansion, which was supposed to take place by this month end as promised by chief minister Siddaramaiah himself, has been postponed now to a future unknown date.
Siddaramaiah and the Karnataka Congress Chief Dr Parameshwar who were in New Delhi to meet the high command of the party will have to return home without meeting them as the key members were not available for consultation.
Digvijay Singh, the party general secretary who is in charge of party affairs in Karnataka, has been in USA and was scheduled to return to New Delhi on September 24 but has postponed his arrival by at least a week as his daughter is said to be sick. Siddaramaiah had an appointment with him on Thursday. Rahul Gandhi left for USA on Tuesday to see his ailing grandmother. Sonia Gandhi, who was supposed to meet Siddaramaiah on Friday, is leaving for USA on Thursday. As all the important persons are either in USA or leaving for USA, Siddaramaiah will return home without meeting them. And accordingly the cabinet expansion stands postponed.
Party sources said, due to changes in his schedule and also because of Bihar elections, Rahul Gandhi’s state visit is also likely to be cancelled. Post aspirants who were planning to meet the party vice president are unhappy about it.
Siddaramaiah will come back to Bengaluru on Thursday itself cutting short his three day visit to the national capital, sources said.
