5 law students killed in bus-car accident in Dharwad

Dharwad, Sep 24 : In a tragic incident, five law students lost their lives when the car they were travelling in hit a KSRTC bus coming from the opposite direction on Wednesday, September 23. The accident happened near the university of agricultural sciences in Dharwad.

Anish Chinchore (21) son of Congress leader Deepak Chinchore, Shivadeep Dambal (21) son of Ballari additional superintendent of police Vijaykumar Dambal, Yugant Patil (21) son of cotton scientist S S Patil, Karthik Naik (21) from Davangere and Shivakumar Muttagi (25) from Bagewadi are the persons deceased. All of them breathed their last on the spot of the accident.

Govindappa Talawar and Prajwalkumar who were injured critically in the accident have been admitted to a hospital in Hubballi.

All the seven occupants of the car were studying law at Sri Siddappa Kambali law college in Dharwad. The accident occurred when they were returning to Dharwad from Belagavi where they had gone on Tuesday night to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The driver of the speeding car, while overtaking a truck, hit the KSRTC bus coming from the opposite direction.

The impact of the collision was severe with the car breaking into two pieces. Three bodies were found around 50 metre away from the accident spot.

Police have registered a case.

    The students were studying in Karnataka State Law University's law School at Navanagar and not in Sri Siddappa Kamli Law College, Dharwad.

    Tragic.not one but five lives are lost because one thought he is on the racing pathway.why didnt he or atleast others didnt realize it?It is a lesson to others not to race on roads and follow the rules of the roads ,first to think of safety of self,second of others too.Thank God not others in bus were not injured.young lives are lost and made parents very sad .Heartfelt sympathy to their Familys.May their souls rest in peace.

    One can imagine the way the car was driven by the car driver. Luckily there were no pedestrians or else the no. of deaths would have been more for fault of one person. Everyone knows that we should be careful while driving still some of them dont understand or they just dont care.

    Really a very tragic incident and the loss of the children can not be expressed in words. Let Almighty grant them eternal rest and courage to the bereaved family members to over come the grief. It is high time to introduce road dividers. May be this could have been avoided if there was one. Let the concerned study the ground situation and implement some stern measures to avoid such incidents in future.
