Ex-MP Shahabuddin shifted from Siwan jail


Patna, Sep 24 (IANS): Former Bihar parliamentarian Mohammad Shahabuddin was on Thursday shifted to Bhagalpur jail from Siwan prison after complaints that he was managing his wife's poll campaign and threatening political rivals on a mobile phone, an official said.

"After complaints by the BJP and other political parties that Shahabuddin was using a mobile phone to threaten his rivals and managing his wife's campaign, the district administration shifted him to Bhagalpur jail," a police official said.

"He was shifted to ensure free and fair elections in Siwan," the official added.

Shahabuddin is presently undergoing a life term. His wife Hina Shahab is a Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate from Siwan assembly constituency.
