Police want proceedings against Bawana through video conferencing

New Delhi, Sep 24 (IANS): Delhi Police on Thursday urged a court here to proceed further against jailed gangster Neeraj Bawana through video conferencing, citing threats to him.

Police told Additional Sessions Judge Neena Bansal Krishna that Bawana could be attacked by his rivals while being taken from Tihar Jail to court, contending it had received intelligence inputs.

The police requested the court to conduct proceedings against Bawana and his arrested associates through video conferencing.

The plea was opposed by Bawana's counsel M.S. Khan, who said this would affect his communication with his client.

The court posted the matter for October 12.

On September 10, police filed a chargesheet against Bawana, former Delhi legislator Rambeer Shokeen and others under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act for allegedly running an organised crime syndicate.
