Indian, Pakistani armies exchange sweets on Eid

Jammu, Sep 25 (IANS): Indian and Pakistani soldiers on Friday exchanged sweets and dry fruits on the occasion of Eid at the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, an official said.

"The armies exchanged sweets and dry fruits at Chakan da Bagh and Mendhar crossing points in Poonch district," defence ministry spokesman Lt. Col. Manish Mehta told IANS here.

After the brigadier-level meeting between the two armies at Chanka da Bagh earlier this week, there has been no ceasefire violation on the LoC and the international border in the state.

On Eid last year, residents of border villages could not celebrate the festival in peace because four civilians were killed in Pakistan ceasefire violation on the LoC in Poonch.
