Malaysia arrests three suspected terrorists

Kuala Lumpur, Sep 25 (IANS): The Malaysian police on Friday said that three suspected militants have been arrested.

Police said the latest operation conducted on Thursday was based on the confessions by suspects arrested earlier that there was a plan to launch attacks on "assets important to the nation and western interests, as well as in public places," Xinhua news agency reported.

The three men comprised a local and two foreigners. One of the foreign suspects visited Yemen frequently and entered Malaysia a few days ago, police said.

Malaysian authorities have arrested a number of suspects in 2015 for their alleged involvement in planning attacks in the capital Kuala Lumpur, it added.
