Udupi, Sep 26: A youth from Udupi died in an accident near Sringeri on Friday September 26.
The deceased has been identified as Ritesh Salian (20), son of Ramesh and Hema Salian.
It is said that Friday being a public holiday, seven students of MGM College, Udupi left for Sringeri in bikes. The students were Ritesh, Vijay, Kaushik, Aditya, Gautam, Allen and Aditya Samaga.
Ritesh was riding pillion with Aditya. At Boloor curve on the border of Sringeri police limits, a Swift Desire car approched the bike from the opposite direction, and Aditya, who was riding, panicked and applied sudden brakes, it is said. Ritesh fell on the road while the bike hit the car.
Ritesh who sustained serious head injuries was rushed to a hospital in Sringeri, but he breathed his last on the way.
The body was brought to Udupi after post-mortem.
Ritesh was the only son of his parents. The family is poor. His father Ramesh is employed as worker in a hotel while mother Hema is a housewife. Originally from Indrali, the family is presently staying in a rented house behind MGM College. Ritesh was a second year BA student.
