Modi meets Bhutan PM, Sri Lanka president


New York, Sep 26 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the leaders of close neighbours Bhutan and Sri Lanka as well as of Cyprus and Sweden in separate back-to-back bilaterals here.

Modi, who addressed the UN Summit on Sustainable Development here on Friday, held bilateral meetings with Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Sweden Prime Minister Stefan Lofven and Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades.

"Strengthening the deep rooted ties of friendship with Bhutan. PM @narendramodi meets PM @tsheringtobgay," tweeted external affairs ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup.

"Continuing the momentum. After PM @RW_UNP visits India, PM @narendramodi meets with President Sirisena of Sri Lanka," he tweeted, referring to the India visit of Sri Lanka Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe earlier this month.

"Showing the way in Human Development. PM @narendramodi meets Stefan Lofven, Prime Minister of Sweden."

"A Mediterranean warmth with traditional friend Cypus. President Nicos Anastasiades with PM @narendramodi," he said in a series of tweets.
