Lawrence D’Souza elected president of Konkani Prachar Sanchalan

Mangaluru, Sep 28: Lawrence D’Souza has been elected as the president of Konkani Prachar Sanchalan.





The ninth annual general meeting held on Saturday, September 26 at Kalangaan elected the following office bearers:

Luvi Pinto Valencia (vice president), James D’Souza Bondel (secretary), Ivan Mascarenhas Bejai (joint secretary), Biston Miranda, Kinnigoli (treasurer), Vincent Mascarenhas Moodbidri (public relations officer) and Fr Alwyn Serrao Padua (education convener).

Other committee members are : Roy Castelino, Eric Ozario, Stany D’Cunha, Ronald Gomes, Anil D’Cunha, Amrith Shenoy and Reena D’Souza.

Konkani Prachar Sanchalan which works with the motive of Konkani education in schools was started in 2006.

After the elections, Lawrence D’Souza said that he will also work to introduce Konkani in PUC, D ED, B Ed and other courses in addition to the prevailing Konkani education in primary and high schools. Lawrence is presently a member of Karnataka Sahitya academy and also a member of Mandd Sobhann.
