Hold talks, UN chief tells India, Pakistan


United Nations, Sep 28 (IANS): UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged India and Pakistan to continue their peaceful dialogue, a media report said.

A statement issued by his office said that in a meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the secretary-general also advised Pakistan to stay engaged with Afghanistan, Dawn reported on Monday.

A Pakistani official said Sharif also raised the Kashmir issue during the meeting.

Both also spoke on fight against terrorism and violent extremism, the secretary general’s office said.

The UN chief also encou­raged Pakistan to continue engaging Afghanistan in order to help stabilise the country, a UN spokesperson said.
