Fake liquor production gang busted in China

Beijing, Sep 28 (IANS): Police in China's Anhui province busted a large fake liquor production gang and destroyed 14 of its production sites, the media reported on Monday.

Over 30,000 bottles of liquor falsely packaged under famous domestic brands and 8.5 tonnes of substandard liquor were seized, the Global Times reported.

All 12 members of the group, including its three leaders, have been detained.

In 2013, they began purchasing inferior liquor, bottles and packaging materials from Shandong, Jiangsu and Henan provinces and sold the liquor under false brands in these provinces through their networks.

Police were still investigating the case.
