Delhi to savour new blend of Sufi music on Wednesday

New Delhi, Sep 28 (IANS): The national capital will experience a new blend of Sufi music on Wednesday when renowned Kerala-based musician Shahabaz Aman will perform here at the India Habitat Centre.

Aman will present "Malayalam Sufi Route", a 90-minute recital, which features a trail of soulful songs drawn from various traditions, interpreting the Sufi journey in a unique way.

He will lead his listeners down memory lane by rendering soulful numbers of Talat Mahmood, Manna Dey, Shamshad Beegum and more.

The September 30 event is organised by cultural think-tank LILA and Foundation for Translocal Initiatives in association with Serendipity Arts.

A playback singer, Aman also has several albums to his credit, besides penning a book, "Om Allah".

"Let's discover and reveal how an artist without fluency in Hindi, Urdu or English will fare at a self-conducted cultural mission in a place like Delhi," said Rizio Yohannan Raj of LILA.
