Kundapur, Jul 17: A case of theft involving cash and valuables worth lacs of rupees has been reported from a house at Koteshwar on Sunday July 16.
The robbers have broken into the residence of Navinchandra Shetty, a building contractor when they had gone to Mangalore to attend a function, on Sunday, Jul 15.
They have decamped with over 50 sovereign gold and Rs 34 thousand cash which was kept in the cup board, Rs 4 thousand from bed room, silver lamp stand and a new mobile handset. The total loss could be over Rs 5 lac, initial reports said.
The thieves entered the house by breaking open the front door and made their exit from rear door. Interestingly, they have finished their job by feeding the pet dog with biscuits laced with drugs. Moreover they have ensured not to leave behind any fingerprints on the spot.
The miscreants appear to have looted the house using the keys hidden behind the idol at the altar. Hence the police suspect that some known people have committed this theft.
