UP policeman kills wife after row, flees

Agra, Sep 29 (IANS): A constable of Uttar Pradesh's Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) allegedly killed his wife early on Tuesday after a fight and fled their home in the staff quarters, police said.

Yashovardhan, who had joined the PAC in 2006, married Shashi from Hathras in 2007. They had started living from 2011 in the staff quarters in PAC lines, where their neighbours informed police that the couple used to have fights almost daily.

On Monday night too, the two had a fight.

The reason for their strained relations, neighbours said, was Yashovardhan suspected his wife of infidelity and that she was having affair during his absence.

The body of the deceased has been sent for post mortem, but preliminary reports suggest she was strangulated.

Circle Officer, Sadar, Asim Choudhary said investigations were on and a team was looking for Yashovardhan who was absconding. A case would be registered after family members lodge a complaint, he said.
