Surprise check finds 80 officers absent from Punjab secretariat


Chandigarh, Sep 29 (IANS): A surprise check of offices at the Punjab secretariat here found at least 80 officers absent from their respective offices, a state government spokesman said on Tuesday.

The surprise check was carried out on the directions of Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal.

"The checking was done by a team headed by special secretary, protocol and found as many as 80 officers absent from office. A total of 38 branches and departments were checked," the spokesman said.

Two Indian Administrative Service officers, Praveen Thind and Rahul Tiwari, were among the absent officers.

"Strict departmental administrative action would be initiated against the officials found absent," the spokesman said.
