Microsoft's commercial cloud services launched in Mumbai, Pune

Mumbai, Sep 29 (IANS): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday launched the Microsoft Commercial Cloud Services from Local Data Centres in Mumbai and Pune.

"This launch is a milestone which has taken the mission of Digital India and Digital Maharashtra to the next level... The good part about these data centres is that they are within the geographical boundaries of our country and take utmost care of security," Fadnavis said at the inauguration.

He said this would not only add strength to our endeavours to provide digital services but help promote Mumbai as an International Financial Services Centre.

"When I visited Microsoft (in June 2015), I had informed Satya Nadella about the challenges in Melghat... I am glad they are developing Harisal as a 'smart village'," Fadnavis said.

He added that with the help of such technologies, the state was working towards making Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation a 'Smart MIDC'.
