Mangaluru, Sep 30: "Though two years have completed since the mysterious death of Akshata, a second year BCom student from a college at Car Street, there has been no progress in the case and police have failed to arrest or even trace the accused. Hence BJP Yuva Morcha, Adyar and the residents of Adyar will lay siege to Pandeshwar police station on October 5," said Pradeep Kumar Shetty, senior leader in the BJP.

Akshata (18) went missing on September 21, 2013, and her body was found on the banks of a river at Bolar three days later, on September 24.

Alleging that it was a case of murder, he said, "Police have not taken this case seriously. They have failed to collect even the forensic report. Police have failed to trace Madan who is the accused in the case and who went missing soon after her death.

"Madan was in contact with Akshata. Moreover, he used more than 13 SIM cards and he was not of a good character," he alleged.

"Hence to demand justice to the family of the victim, we have decided to hold a strong protest against the police department. The police are trying to close the case. Though this case has been brought to the notice of the police commissioner, there is no progress," he added.

Varun Chowta, Yuva Morcha president of Mangaluru North, Suchan Suvarna, Prasanna Kumar and Chethan Kumar were present.
