Baroda, Sep 30: The 12th national Kannada cultural conference was held at C C Mehtha auditorium, Baroda on September 27. It was inaugurated by Karnataka minister of forests and Dakshina Kannada district incharge minister B Ramanath Rai after lighting the traditional lamp.



Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the outland Kannadigas are large hearted. “They immensely respect the land and the language. Your unity indirectly strengthens the motherland,” he said.

Conference president, famous author K T Chikkanna in his presidential address, said that Kannada land and language are rich. “The literature upholds human values.”

Five people were awarded Hridayavantha 2015 awards for their achievements in different fields. Twelve people who have served the language in different fields were awarded national Kannada conference award and felicitated on the occasion.

Baroda Karnataka Sangha secretary Raghavendra R proposed the vote of thanks. Kannada TV artiste G N Swamy compered the programme.
