CBI official held in graft case


New Delhi, Sep 30 (IANS): A 32-year-old Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) official has been arrested for taking a bribe of Rs.1 lakh from a cloth merchant here, police said on Wednesday.

Amit Prakash, who was deputed in the CBI in 2012 as a sub-inspector, was arrested from Uttam Nagar in west Delhi on Tuesday.

Police said Prakash was held for extorting money from cloth merchant Ashok Kumar.

"We arrested Amit Prakash red handed on a tip-off," said a police officer.

A CBI official told IANS that the sub-inspector has been suspended and an internal inquiry has been ordered against him.
