Bengaluru, Oct 1: Raghaveshwara Bharathi, the seer of Ramachandrapura Math did not turn up for medical examination on Wednesday, September 30 as directed by the criminal investigation department (CID).

The CID had issued a notice to the seer asking him to appear for the medical examination at Victoria Hospital from 9 am to 1 pm. He was supposed to undergo three tests each in the two rape cases registered against him.

A team of doctors waited for him till 1 pm, at Victoria Hospital. After that a report was sent to the CID saying the pontiff did not turn up for tests.

Later a representative from the math handed over a letter sent by the seer to the CID which said that since the petition challenging the CID notice was pending before the high court, the seer did not appear for the tests.

A CID officer said that a legal opinion will be sought regarding the matter of the Seer not turning up for the medical test and the next step will be taken.

Meanwhile an anticipatory bail was granted to the pontiff by a city court on Wednesday in relation to the second rape case lodged against him. The seer had moved the application seeking the bail as soon as the second rape case was filed at Girinagar police station. A 25 year old woman had alleged that the seer had raped her twice, first in 2006 when she was a class 10 student in Hosanagar and then in 2012 when she had come to Girinagar in Bengaluru.
