Afghanistan probes fall of Kunduz city to Taliban


Kabul, Oct 1 (IANS): Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Thursday said he has formed a commission to probe the fall of the northern Kunduz city to Taliban militants.

"A commission has been constituted to investigate the reason for the fall of Kunduz city and legal action within the framework of the law of the land would be taken against any responsible official who committed negligence or treason," Ghani was quoted as saying by Xinhua.

Taliban militants in a surprise attack captured Kunduz on Monday.

Afghan security forces backed by US military aircraft recaptured the city on Thursday.
