Karkala, Jul 19: An appeal was submitted to V Ponnuraj, deputy commissioner of the district under the leadership of Nityananda Pai to see to it that the local business men and religious places are not affected at the time of expansion of the main road of the town.
The decision taken to expand the road is said to be unilateral and this has shocked the locals as it is the Car Street. Invariably this may cause damage to Venkata Ramana Temple, Veera Narayana Temple and any damage to these temples would adversely affect the religious feelings of the people, state the appeal.
The expansion would also ruin the business of the businessmen as they might lose their shops. This may make them impoverished. Hence this should be taken into consideration, the appeal urged the district administration.
T Ramachandra Naik, ex-municipality member of BJP, Sunil Kumar Shetty and others were present on the occasion.
