India lose to South Korea in Asian basketball meet

Changsha (China), Oct 2 (IANS): India lost to South Korea 72-117 in their 5th-8th classification match of the basketball Asia Championship here on Friday.

India fielded a second string team hoping to give exposure to the younger players.

India's points tally was headed by Amjyot Singh (24) and Amritpal Singh (18).

But it was not enough for a victory as the Indian team was second best for the entire duration of the match.

India will play their 7th-8th classification match against Qatar on Saturday.

Irrespective of the outcome, India is assured of its best ever finish in 12 years in the competition.
