Kashmiris offer funeral prayers for poet Iqbal's son


Srinagar, Oct 3 (IANS): Dozens of people here on Saturday offered funeral prayers in absentia for Javed Iqbal, son of celebrated Urdu poet Muhammad Iqbal who died in Pakistan.

Javed Iqbal, 90, a former judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, passed away in Lahore earlier on Saturday.

Dozens of locals led by Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik offered the prayers in uptown Maisuma area here.

The ancestors of philosopher poet Iqbal belonged to Jammu and Kashmir.
