Don't give lynching communal colour: Rajnath

New Delhi, Oct 4 (IANS): Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said the lynching of a Muslim man in Uttar Pradesh following rumours that he ate beef should not be given a communal colour.

"It was an unfortunate incident. But it is not proper to give communal colour to it," he told reporters.

On September 28 night, Mohammed Akhlaq was dragged out of his house in a Greater Noida village and killed by a mob after rumours that he had consumed beef.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday met Akhlaq's family in Lucknow and vowed to bring the guilty to book.
