Manchester, Oct 5 (IANS): Midfielder Kevin De Bryune says Manchester City cannot allow their level to drop again this English Premier League (EPL) season if they are to regain the title.
City ended a run of two straight defeats with Saturday's 6-1 thrashing of Newcastle at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester to return to the top of the table, where they hold a two-point lead over Arsenal and Manchester United.
"We will be one of the favourites. But you need to be 100 percent every game here. Each team has a lot of good players. The Premier League is not for nothing, one of the toughest," De Bruyne, a 54 million pound ($81.92 million) signing from German outfit VfL Wolfsburg, was quoted as saying by mirror.co.uk on Sunday.
"Every match in the Premier League is difficult and we must just stay focused. We play so many matches, hopefully we can get this momentum to continue," the Belgian international added.
De Bruyne, who has scored four goals in his last five games for City, is happy with his start in England.
"I cannot complain about the start. Of course, the playing style of City is unlike that of Wolfsburg. But in the end it remains just football," he said.
"It's another level of play and a different way of playing, but that's the only thing that's different," the 24-year-old former Chelsea player added.
