Dadri Mob Killing: No 'Beef' in Uttar Pradesh Government's Report to Centre

Lucknow, Oct 6 (NDTV): In its report on the mob killing of a Muslim man last Monday in Dadri, allegedly over rumours that he had beef in his house, the Uttar Pradesh government has not mentioned any motive. The report sent to the Centre last night also avoids the word "beef".

The report says a crowd attacked 52-year-old Mohammad Akhlaq over allegations that he had consumed banned animal meat.

The report also mentions political leaders who visited the village in Dadri after the killing; who among them met Akhlaq's family and who called on the families of the accused.
